Prepping For Burnout
OK, OK I know it’s literally the beginning of the year and everyone is talking about goal setting, resolutions and making big plans – but I want to talk about burnout. Far to often we spend so much time prepping and striving to make it to the top but we don’t prep for rest. We don’t talk about the things to do to prepare and protect ourselves. Burnout does not discriminate, it can happen at any age, any level, to anyone.
Why Essential Oils?
There are ways to arm your mind, body and spirit with good things to keep you strong. Essential Oils have been that for me. There are many great companies out there, that sell essential oils. For the ones I’m listing below you want to make sure you’re using the highest quality, cleanest, safest and therapeutic grade -since these oils will be on and IN your body. Yes! you can use essential oils on (topically) your body, you can diffuse (Aromatic) in the air and internal (ingest – on your tongue, in liquid or capsule). My brand of choice is doTERRA Essential Oils. I have been using doTERRA for years. These are the purest essentials you will find on the market!
3 Essential Oils Must Haves
Get Sh*t Done – You’re up and ready to start your day. Maybe coffee or a green drink is your method of choice to get going but essential oils can also be a natural alternative to the caffeine buzz. My favorite is Wild Orange! This zesty, bright and fruitful oil literally smells like you plucked the most perfect ripe orange off a tree.
- doTERRA Wild Orange oil – The best way to enjoy this oil is to diffuse in the air. Add 5- 10 drops (depending on size of your diffuser) to water and enjoy. Not only will your house or office smell amazing you’ll start perking up quickly!
- If you don’t have a diffuser – simply add a few drops to the palm of your hand, rub together creating some heat, cup your hands around your nose and mouth (try not to touch your face) and inhale deeply. In less than 2 minutes you’ll feel a sense of energy and renewed spirit!
Focused Energy – When you up against a deadline or need to put in some serious IPT (Income producing time) use this oil:
- doTERRA Frankincense oil – add one drop under your tongue OR rub some on the back of neck under your hair line.
Relaxation – You’ve had a crazy busy day and need to chill but you’re still too hyped up. This oil will ground and settle you. Great to use before a meditation, in your bath and also before bed.
- doTERRA Serenity oil blend – this delicious, sweet smelling oil is a blend of several high vibe, high powered oils guaranteed to calm your frazzled nerves. I love to add a drop behind my neck. Rrub a few drops on the bottoms of my feet. Even rub some over my pillows. This oil is also GREAT to diffuse by your bed side while you sleep.
In Addition to Oils…
While these three oils will help you stay alert, focused and then able to rest – NOTHING beats actually resting. Going to bed at a reasonable hour, taking a nap, exercise, and eating well. To stay at the top of your game, means playing the game right. In order to do that you MUST take care of yourself. I think we all can agree, we’re in this for the long haul so let’s treat our mind and body right!
