Habits are no more than small actions we repeat daily.
And morning habits are the most important ones for your success. Habits are fundamental to our daily routine. Once our routines are established, we won’t waste time with tasks that won’t make us grow. So if we have good habits we will have success.
A more organized life gives us more free time to enjoy our hobbies and activities with our family and friends. But how many of us feel great and ready to go when the alarm clock rings every morning to wake us up to a reality of tough work and long hours?
If you are always tired, there may be something wrong with your routine. I’ve felt tired before but I’ve found out that waking up to the right beat is essential for me to have a good productive work day.
Having a good morning routine doesn’t mean you have to wake up early. A good morning routine may take its time but have the liberty to adapt it to your own hours.
Here are some key habits you can follow to start your day with the right foot:
1 – No Snooze
Snooze is our best friend because it keeps us in bed and prevents us from facing the world. However, it’s beneficial for you to get right up. Staying in bed will make your brain restart again and again, causing more distress and tiredness. As soon as the alarm rings, wake up slowly and get out of bed to make a smooth transition to fully awake state.
2 – Always have breakfast
You’ve been sleeping for the past seven hours so you probably haven’t eaten anything for a long time. So basically your body is awaken but super starving. But there are people who just don’t eat and skip this important meal altogether! Skipping breakfast is the same thing as trying to start your car without gas – it’s making a tremendous effort to just keep itself operating. Please, if you want to start your “body machine”, fill the gas tank, no excuses.
3 – No screens in bed
This rule is the most difficult to follow. There is scientific evidence that the screen light damages our eyes and make our brains stay awake and alert. So it’s late, you’re trying to sleep but your brain is hyperactive because instead of shutting down it woke up to the light. While my smartphone is my alarm clock, I don’t watch TV shows or TV in my bedroom and that makes my sleeping routine great. I fall asleep quickly and rest all the night to wake up in the morning feeling fresh and energized!
4 – Preparation
You may be one of those people who wakes up late, runs out of home to catch the bus and arrives at work noticing you forgot to pack some snacks for the day. If you don’t want to live in a hurry, why not prepare everything the day before? After dinner, choose what outfit you’re going to wear for the next day, put some snacks in your bag, make some oatmeal in jars for pre-prepared breakfast. You will do tasks more efficiently and your day will start more smoothly.
5 – Drink water
Your body is like your temple. You can’t live outside of it and that’s why you want it to be clean, organized and functional. If you wouldn’t live in a dirty room why would you want to live with a body like that? Our bodies are 70% water so you must keep yourself hydrated. Your appetite, your energy and your overall fitness are super dependable of how much water you drink. Always drinking water throughout the day will give keep attentive, focus and energize every week.
There are people who don’t like to wake up in the morning but we all must get up to start our work days. By following few simple morning habits, you will be able to start your day smoothly and less stressful, and that will make a great difference in your overall mood. Start a good day the best way and everything will go great!
