Empower Each Other

Repeat after me, “I am not on in a competition with the woman next to me.”

Whether she be wearing makeup or not. Whether she has a better job than me or not. Whether she has anything that would make it seem like I have to compete. Other women are not our competition. We do not exist to put each other down and the sooner we realize it the better we all will be. We can’t make any more progress if we don’t help each other up. We have to speak out if we are in a position of power and privilege in order to speak out. We have to lend a helping hand if we are in a position to help. We have to be there for each other because we’re all we have.

I know it may seem like the world is constantly plotting us against each other. The movies and novels all tell a story of women who can’t possibly be friends but that’s why we have to work to break that idea that’s been pushed on us by factors we’ve might not have had any control over before now.

I am not in competition with the woman next to me.

She is pretty. She is powerful. She is ambitious. She is talented.
She is her and I am me and that makes neither one of us less or more.

She is a lot of things but so am I and so are you. We can’t allow ourselves to focus on the things we aren’t or the things we don’t have that put us in this race against each other.

Other women are not my competition. We all have different dreams, different goals, and different ambitions. We’re not the same and that’s ok. We all have different purposes in this lifetime and together we can make a much bigger difference in the world together rather than alone.
