You can be the sweetest person and have great intentions but there will always be someone that’s going to be salty. Often times, especially on social media, it’s destructive criticism. Their words are strictly opinionated and said bluntly with no thought or compassion. This article post was made for my female hustlers who have faced difficult times dealing with harsh remarks. As you blossom in your career as a business woman you have to develop thick skin and I don’t say this lightly. Here are some reassuring words from me to you on how you can handle criticism the classy way.
Understand that there will always be critics
There are two types of criticism: constructive criticism and destructive criticism. When I was in college I learned how to distinguish the two. Constructive criticism is when someone shares their thoughts on your work and then offer a solution on how you can better improve. In contrast, Destructive criticism is when a person delivers their opinion out of hate, jealousy, and bad vibes. Whether their words were said with good or bad intentions, it’s important for you to understand the difference between the two. Stay motivated when you receive either one!
Tough minded discipline
I usually don’t say this but… Yasssssss!!!! Being tough minded is key to handling criticism. A tough minded person knows how to pick and choose their battles. You don’t have to respond to every comment or read the same negative comment over and over again. Doing that will only hinder your growth. Be disciplined enough to ignore the haters and speak LIFE into your visions and dreams.
Focus on perfecting your craft.
Let people create their own bad blood with themselves while you focus on perfecting your craft. Value your time. The time you use to “clap back” at the critics can be the same time you use to get BETTER at what you do. When you choose to invest more time on yourself and not worry about what a hater gots to say. . . . that’s when you continue to thrive.
Remember who you are
Think about it. Is it really worth arguing with people about who YOU are and the work YOU put out there?? Don’t let anyone take you out of your character. Repeat after me, “I am worthy. My business is booming. Everyday I am getting better at what I do. I am intelligent. I was destined to be successful. God has an amazing plan for me”.
Stay classy ladies.
