How to Know Whether a Monthly Membership Site Is Right for You

Investing in your business happens at different levels and at different times. As your business grows and changes, you may need a different type of support to assist you.

This runs all the way from making a one-time investment in an online course all the way up to paying someone for their one-on-one consulting fees or what’s known as a VIP day where you get a mentor working directly with you on your business. All of these have value for different types of business owners and at different stages. But one method you may currently be considering is investing in a monthly membership site.

Let me share that membership sites can be extremely powerful if you are the type of dedicated and diligent person who likes to complete things on your own.

By taking in information that someone else has curated for you, directly related to your business. I am currently involved in two monthly membership sites.

Both provide information about marketing my freelance writing business. The managers of these monthly membership sites provide a detailed information about meaningful ways to market my business and provide answers to common questions. While I don’t get one-on-one feedback all the time in a membership site, I can still learn directly from a master and take what I have learnt and apply it in my company.

What You Should Know About Monthly Membership Sites

A monthly membership site may be right for you if you don’t yet have the funds to invest on a one-on-one level or if you don’t feel like you need somebody else’s hands on your business but you still want to learn how they do what they do.

Each month, new materials will be added to your membership library. This is really powerful for the person who is in the stages of growing their business. As an example, in the membership sites that I currently belong to, one month the managers have uploaded information about writing the perfect pitch and in the other membership site, it’s all about executing a LinkedIn strategy to develop clients. These are both things I could use help on but I don’t have to pay someone directly for just this piece of information, rather every month I am getting something new and I am learning something new that helps me incorporate this into my business in a more meaningful way. A membership site may be right for you depending on your individual goals.

A membership site may be right for you if you don’t have a lot of funds to invest because monthly membership sites can be extremely affordable in comparison with other coaching opportunities. Choosing the right membership site is critical.

Don’t select a monthly membership for something that you only intend to focus on for a short period of time. Monthly memberships are best for long-term goals.

For example, you might sign up for a monthly membership site if you are trying to write a nonfiction book and you know that this process will take you years. You might belong to a monthly membership site if you are developing online courses and want to learn everything you can about the process.
